About Us?
The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health Ltd was established by its founding members to provide a coordinated/integrated approach to the planning, development and delivery of comprehensive primary health care services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations within the Southeast Qld Region.
The Aged Care and Disability Services team aims to provide support services to help Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people over the age of 50 or living with a significant and/or permanent disability to be more independent and to actively participate in their communities. We have locations across the Southeast Queensland region including, North Brisbane, South Brisbane, Caboolture, Sunshine Coast, Gympie and Hervey Bay/Maryborough.
About the Role?
As a Community Support Worker based at our Nambour office, you will provide domestic and social support to our eligible Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander aged members. The role will require you to perform in accordance with Client Care plans and the Aged Care Standards. The successful applicant will join a diverse support team that thrives in supporting our elders in their homes.
1. Assist with general client care, including undertaking personal care, domestic assistance, social support, respite, meals and transport activities.
2. Encouraging and supporting the independence of our elders to remain in their own homes.
3. Providing a tailored service to our clients in line with their care plan.
About You?
* Current C Class Drivers Licence (QLD)
* Current Criminal History Check
* Certificate III in Aged Care / Individual Support
* Reliable vehicle with proof of registration
* Current First Aid and CPR Certification – willingness to obtain upon commencement
* Ability to work sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders especially in a home environment, respecting their traditional culture, values, and personal ways of doing things.
Desirable, but not mandatory:
* Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and/or communities.
