About the role
Are you a visionary designer with a passion for shaping exceptional user experiences? At Coles, we're looking for a Senior Product Designer to lead the design and implementation of our Coles Group Design System. In this pivotal role, you'll oversee the creation, maintenance, and monitoring of all UI components, rules, and documentation, ensuring consistency and quality across our platforms. You'll also contribute to our front-end code base using React and JavaScript, with Swift or Java knowledge being a valuable plus. Key Responsibilities
* Lead Design System Development: Drive the creation and implementation of scalable Design Systems that support various e-commerce product teams, ensuring consistency and efficiency.
* Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Engineering, Product Management, and other stakeholders to create a unified and effective design process.
* UI Parts & Documentation: Develop and maintain UI components, design rules, and documentation to ensure a cohesive and high-quality customer experience across multiple touchpoints.
* Advocate for Best Practices: Champion best practices in atomic design and user experience to deliver superior design solutions.
* Technical Insight: Contribute to technical decisions regarding the Design System, advocate for smart front-end implementations, and collaborate effectively with tech leads and development leads.
* Mentorship: Provide mentorship and guidance to junior designers and team members on best practices and Design Systems usage.
About you and your skills
* Extensive experience leading the design and implementation of scalable Design Systems for e-commerce platforms.
* Strong collaborative skills with Engineering, Product Management, and other stakeholders to drive cohesive design processes.
* Expertise in creating and maintaining UI components, design rules, and documentation for a unified customer experience.
* Demonstrated ability to advocate for atomic design principles and high-quality user experiences.
* Experience in influencing technical decisions and working effectively with tech and development leads.
* Prior experience in Retail and Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) environments is highly favourable.
