About the role The Director Behaviour Education and Community will provide leadership in the design, development and delivery of effective road safety community and education programs, behaviour change campaigns/messaging and enforcement programs. This role is pivotal in achieving key organisational road safety objectives of the TAC and Victorian government, related to sound data and research, investment and promotion of road safety. About the Team Leading the Behaviour, Education and Community branch, you will have three direct reports and oversee a dedicated team of professionals, managing a $30 million budget to deliver road safety community programs, grants, and education initiatives. You will be part of the Road Safety division, a passionate and purpose-driven team committed to reducing transport fatalities and serious injuries across Victoria. Supported by the Executive General Manager, Road Safety, and a collaborative senior leadership team, you will have the autonomy to drive impactful programs while benefiting from a strong network of support. What we’re looking for Expert in Road Safety Program Development Over 10 years of experience designing, developing, and implementing large-scale, state-wide, evidence-based community and education programs (e.g., Road to Zero, RoadSmart Interactive). A deep understanding of behaviour change theories and a demonstrated knowledge of the Safe System Approach are essential. Inspiring and Results-Driven Leader Proven ability to lead and develop multi-disciplinary teams, fostering a high-performing and collaborative culture. You will have extensive experience in workforce planning, budget management, and financial oversight to ensure efficient and effective program delivery. Strategic Innovator Strong track record in providing high-level strategic advice on road safety to senior leadership, paired with the political acumen to influence key decisions. You will be skilled in assessing emerging issues, devising innovative solutions, and leading large-scale transformation initiatives that drive meaningful change.
