Holsworthy High School is in the Liverpool Area of South West Sydney and has 630 students. The school has a diverse multicultural community, with 85 EAL/D students and 40 Aboriginal students. Holsworthy High School also has 60 students from Defence Force families who are well supported by a Defence School Mentor (DSM). A newly formed Special Education unit caters for students with a mild intellectual disability (IM) and autism (AU). There is a very well established and effective Community of Schools group with high quality joint programs. There is a firm commitment from the leadership of all four schools to develop and extend this partnership.
The school is committed to a locally developed Learning Model that supports the department's priorities and reflects community aspirations. The model informs the teaching and learning practices of staff and students within the school.
Specific Selection CriteriaApplicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,
1. Demonstrated experience and approval to teach PD/Health/PE.
2. Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with a proven ability to strengthen a team culture, to lead and manage a faculty with a diverse experience and build positive relationships.
3. Demonstrated ability to inspire, develop and lead staff at all stages of their career through professional learning and evidence-informed, reflective teaching practices to promote high quality teaching, learning and assessment.
4. Proven capacity to work collaboratively with the executive team to lead, manage and implement whole-school processes and initiatives that support the school’s strategic directions and improve learning and engagement for all students.
General Selection Criteria1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice.2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs.3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams.4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents.5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning.6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies.Conditions
