About the Division / Team
Our Hunter Valley network primarily services the Hunter Valley coal chain – the world’s largest thermal coal export operation – by providing an efficient and reliable rail transportation system between mines and the Port of Newcastle.We manage the movement of around 250 trains per day on our network. Around half of these being coal trains and the other half comprised of passenger services, as well as grain, general intermodal, and other bulk freight trains.

Based in Muswellbrook, NSW, working an attractive lifestyle roster, ARTC is currently seeking applications from Signal Electricians that are looking to become part of our Hunter Valley Asset Maintenance team. What you'll do...
Be the signal master: Install, maintain, and repair critical signalling and communication equipment.
Diagnose like a pro: Troubleshoot faults, identify the culprit, and get the trains rolling again.
From cables to locks: Handle diverse tasks, from maintaining aerial lines to fixing intricate mechanical locking systems.
Safety first, always: Respond promptly to emergencies and ensure equipment operates flawlessly and safely.
Share your expertise: Train and supervise others, fostering a collaborative and safety-conscious team.
Think big: Recommend improvements, optimize performance, and keep our infrastructure humming.

About You
If you think you will enjoy working outdoors in the picturesque Hunter Valley and Mid-Western region of NSW, this opportunity is too good to pass up. There are a variety of different locations throughout this region to call home, all of which are a relatively short commute to the centralised Provisioning Centre in Muswellbrook. If your interests include sport, lifestyle hobby farming, fishing, camping or 4wd’ing, this region has it all.
To ensure success in this position, applicants will be able to demonstrate:
Essential Selection Criteria:
1. Qualified Railway Signal Electrician
2. Knowledge and ability to implement the principles of rail safety management, OHS principles and electrical codes of practice
3. Proven experience in diagnosing and resolving signal and communication equipment faults in a rail environment
4. Written and oral communication skills
5. Ability to work independently and in a team environment
6. Ability to apply quality systems including policies and procedures
Customer service focus
7. Drivers Licence – Class C
8. ARTC Statement of Competency (Signals) or demonstrated ability to attain as per Signals Competency Assessment (EST-20-03).
Desirable Selection Criteria:
9. Detailed knowledge of telemetry and computer interlocking systems
10. Current AUSTEL / ACA license
