JOB ID: 1804 EXPERIENCED MEDICAL SECRETARY PERMANENT PART-TIME EAST MELBOURNE Our client is seeking a great team player, with proven experience in medical rooms, to provide high-quality patient service and administrative support to a group of specialist Ophthalmologists. As the Medical Secretary, you will primarily be the first point of contact, and as such, must have a genuine desire to provide high-quality service, and possess excellent communication skills, as you liaise with patients, referring practitioners and other stakeholders. The primary responsibility is to provide timely, friendly and professional administration services, patient-focused care and efficient operation of the Practice. This exciting role requires a hands-on approach to customer service, attention to detail, excellent telephone manner, flexibility, a good level of computer literacy and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, ensuring every day will be stimulating and never boring. The role is offered on a permanent part-time basis – 3 days per week (every Monday and Tuesday with a 3rd day to be discussed at interview), working on the city fringe adjacent to The Fitzroy Gardens, travelling to work will be a breeze with all forms of public transport within easy access. Hours: between 8.00 am to 5.00 pm (8 hours per day) the flexibility to work additional hours in times of heavier demand or to cover fellow staff members while on leave). Duties include: Front-of-house reception Answering telephone enquiries Handling patient enquiries Responding to emails Medical Audiotyping Invoicing and receipting patients Appointment scheduling and confirmation Sending (emailing) new patient letters/registration forms Sending (texting, emailing) recall letters Use of medical software Zedmed – almost a paperless office Scanning of documents Providing patients quotes for surgery (happy to train) Essential Criteria: Previous medical experience ideally in Ophthalmology Use of medical software package (Zedmed would be a bonus) Flexible to work additional days in times of heavier demand Work well within a busy team environment. Professional and polite manner Caring for the patients’ needs Attention to detail. Solid keyboard skills Previously processed patient accounts – understanding billing codes etc. Our client is proactive in ensuring that all staff are happy in their roles, which ensures optimum team performance at all times.
