About the Role The Support worker within Parkerville’s Our Way Home program is responsible for supporting the holistic, therapeutic and trauma informed day to day care of Parkerville clients. The support worker is responsible for working as part of the care team in ensuring the delivery of actions as identified within the child’s My Plan, Safety Plan, and other relevant documents. The support worker will work under the general direction of the Therapeutic Team Leader and other full time care staff. This role will be offered on a Permanent, Part-Time basis, with the expectation that the successful candidates will be able to work flexibly, with shifts being on a rostered basis. As a Support Worker, your duties and responsibilities will be: To provide a high standard of therapeutic care for children and young people living in the home inclusive of their physical and emotional needs, ensuring their safety and wellbeing. Provide stability, consistency and a predictable caring approach to children who have experienced significant complex trauma. Help maintain the physical environment for children which is trauma informed by ensuring the home is welcoming, child friendly and aligned to the Our Way Home ‘a home away from home practice guide’. To record accurately and appropriately all relevant information and activities regarding the children and young people in their CMS files. Maintain accurate records such as daily logs, handover sheets, ensuring all relevant information is recorded in language that is objective, professional and informative. In order to be successful for this role, the applicant will have: A qualification in Youth work, Community Services or other relevant field of study; or extensive experience in a similar role. Demonstrated ability to flexible, manage competing priorities and stressful situations, monitoring own stress levels and practising own self-care strategies. Demonstrated capacity to be able to work in a team environment to deliver exceptional services to children and young people. Evidenced knowledge and experience in the delivery of Trauma informed care. Highly developed capacity for emotional self-regulation including the capacity to set and maintain consistent boundaries to provide safety, stability and consistency.
