Established and operating within the Victorian Department of Education since 2016, the Victorian School Building Authority (VSBA) is at the forefront of cutting-edge school and early childhood design, development and construction innovation, unifying policy and delivery, supporting Victoria as the Education State. With a combined asset and land value of nearly $49.4 billion, Victoria’s government schools form one of the largest asset bases in Victoria.
With a combined operating and capital budget of $3.7billion, the VSBA has an ambitious agenda and is committed to providing world class educational facilities to support a great education for every child and young person, so they can thrive now, and in the future, for a fairer, smarter and more prosperous state. Over the past decade, the VSBA is delivering on Government investment of $16.9 billion to deliver more than 2,000 school upgrades and open 100 new schools by 2026. In addition, the Government’s nation leading Best State Best Life reforms places the VSBA as the lead for building and expanding hundreds of kindergartens across the state, including 50 new government owned and operated early learning and childcare centres opening between 2025 and 2032.
About the role:
The Chief Executive Officer is a high-profile position responsible for the strategic leadership and ambitious infrastructure investment agenda of the VSBA as a highly credible State Government Authority.
As CEO, you will lead and inspire excellence and efficiency in service delivery for the VSBA's multi-billion-dollar education infrastructure program; building a culture of integrity, accountability and customer service.
In collaboration and in codesign with department-based schools and early childhood groups, you will be responsible for overseeing transformative projects that align with government and departmental priorities. You will actively represent the Department and Authority and engage with external stakeholders, providing timely advice to the department Secretary, portfolio Ministers and Government in relation to infrastructure reform and innovation, the delivery of capital projects and the communication of outcomes for the asset portfolio. This dynamic leadership role ensures more Victorians will benefit from world class educational facilities.

Your career history demonstrates a pragmatic, results-oriented approach for achieving objectives, supported by a systems thinking perspective. As a contemporary and visionary leader, you are well respected for your experience in setting strategic direction, navigating complex challenges and strong relationship management. Above all, you have a track record of leading successful delivery in infrastructure or other relevant fields. You are excited at the challenge that this role demands and have the high energy and insight to foster the collaborative relationships that will ultimately benefit education outcomes for Victorian children and young people.
