The ACT Integrity Commission seeks an experienced General Counsel for a senior executive contract. This is an opportunity to work in an anti-corruption agency, providing legal guidance, advocacy, and leadership to prevent corrupt conduct.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide legal advice to the Commissioner, CEO, and staff on all aspects of operations, including the application and interpretation of the Integrity Commission Act 2018.
* Lead the Commission's legal team, drafting reports detailing findings and outcomes of investigations, and appearing as counsel assisting the Commissioner in public and private examinations.
* Establish and maintain relationships with key external stakeholders, such as the ACT Director of Public Prosecutions and the ACT Government Solicitor.
About the Role
This is a hands-on and varied role, collaborating with teams across the organisation to provide in-house legal services for the Commission's operational functions. The successful applicant will be engaged under a performance-based long-term contract for a period of up to five years.
