AIG Energy is a global market leader in its field and forms part of the Global Specialty business.The Senior Energy Underwriter role offers the successful candidate the opportunity to work in a highly technical and specialised field of insurance.
You will have accountability in managing and growing a portfolio of carefully selected risks within Australia's most critical industries.Key accountabilities will include but not limited to:Strong technical understanding of Energy property risks within either Mining, Power Generation, Renewable Energy, Oil & Gas, or Chemicals industries.Underwrite Energy risks in line with the Energy governance framework e.g., Underwriting Authorities, Underwriting Guidelines and Functional Rules.Actively source and underwrite new business to meet profitability targets.Drive involvement of functional areas in Underwriting process, including Market Management, Risk Consulting, Claims and Operations.Manage referrals and undertake 4-eye reviews with underwriters.Contribute to the development and execution of regional underwriting strategy.Create and maintain positive relationships with key producers and clients and other relevant stakeholders.Ensure accurate policy documentation is issued to producers.Proactively take on selected tasks and special projects, which compliment your role and the Energy team's strategic development.What you'll need to succeedPreferably, you have a degree either in Engineering, Economics, Law, or other appropriate discipline.Demonstrated experience underwriting profitable Energy business.You have recognized relationships with clients and brokers at peer group level and are established within the market.You have a good understanding of regional Energy insurance markets and competitor landscape.Capable of leveraging data and analytics to make business more efficient and effective.You have a good understanding of the legal and regulatory environment.You have excellent negotiation skills, ability to build, maintain and expand relationship with key broker partners and clients.You have excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.Candidate should be results-oriented.Ready to make a bigger impact?
