We are currently looking for an experienced Management Accountant to join our team based out of our Perth Support Centre.
Job Description
The Management Accountant is accountable to both the Operations Management Teams and National Finance Team and is responsible for the financial integrity of accounts, processes and systems (including but not limited to revenue and labour management, cash, cost control, contract interpretation, financial analysis end of month procedures, variance analysis, contract performance and financial reporting).
Working closely with the Commercial Head of the Portfolio, this role ensures site adherence to company controls, policies, procedures, provides guidance, support and financial management for the Contract’s Operations Manager and Operations team with regards to commercial and financial matters.
Accountabilities for the role include but are not limited to:
Leadership:
* Demonstrate leadership in safety, risk and environmental sustainability in all business conduct
* Communicate effectively with business unit stakeholders, clients, and external parties
* Drive continuous Improvement and efficiencies in all areas of financial management
Financial:
* Ensure appropriate financial governance, policies and procedures are in place to ensure the integrity of the site financial processes including billing, cash, labour, stock, asset management. Prepare timely and accurate financial reports, produce site invoicing and all subsequent requirements associated with their production in accordance with given timetable deadlines.
* Provide relevant evaluation and analysis of operational site performance in order to optimise profitability and efficiencies
* Invoicing and debtor collection management and ensure an appropriate focus regarding billing
* Assist Commercial Head with preparation and dissemination of the annual budgets and quarterly forecasts including analysis and insight of data provided.
* Ensure compliance with statutory authorities and assist with all external audit requirements.
* Identify and manage commercial and financial risk within the business and advise on appropriate mitigation measures
* Produce, review, analyse and posting of journals required to obtain accurate status of monthly P&L statements.
* Communicate with operations regarding any discrepancy in processes and be able to challenge compliance with procedures and processes in accordance with company guidelines.
* Assisting Commercial Finance Manager and supporting Commercial Head with general accounting functions as and when required.
* Maintain an accurate and structured filing system for audit trails purpose.
* Liaise with Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable departments and be able to resolve any issue that may arise.
* Travel to Remote Site if required to work with on the ground operational teams and attend meetings
Qualifications
Our preferred candidate will have strong technical accounting skills demonstrated by the completion of a professional qualification or working towards a CA/CPA. They will have advanced Microsoft Office Skills - in particular Microsoft Excel.
* Minimum 3 years’ experience in a Commercial Accounting role
* Proven experience at management level and administering multi-faceted contracts of a similar sized geographically dispersed business
* Experience in Facilities Maintenance Work Order Systems, Project Works and SAP would be highly desirable
* Demonstrated ability in meeting deadlines, to be able to set realistic goals, problem solve and establish priorities
* Ability to take ownership and successfully deliver projects
* Experience with Microsoft AX preferable and Sharepoint
* Intermediate to Advance working knowledge and experience with MS Excel
* Strong analytical mind
* Ability to negotiate internally and externally with key stakeholder and strong customer service focus
* Proactive and confident
* Ability to work to and commit to tight deadlines
