A wonderful opportunity is now available for a Library Technician to work in a Temporary Part time role on a Thursday and Friday located within Nepean Hospital. This role is for 16 hours per week and ceases in December 2024.
Your role as the Library Technician will see you have the ability to work effectively as a member of the Library Team, responding to enquiries from a range of Library clients with a variety of expectations in a courteous and
professional manner in demanding circumstances.
The Library Service supports the functions of the District by providing services and resources to meet the information needs of NBMLHD staff and students of affiliated universities for purposes including: patient care, quality improvement, clinical redesign, research and education.
The Library Technician assists in the provision of library services at NBMLHD with particular reference to inter-library loans, journal accessioning, item processing and cataloguing, circulation desk duties, and general library housekeeping. Library technicians are expected to be self-directed and to work independently when the need arises.

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course (2 doses) of a Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccine (except for the Janssen COVID-19 vaccine which is approved by the TGA as a single dose primary course). New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health or provide an Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW. A NSW Health agency may require further information about the medical contraindication (including but not limited to an Immunisation Medical Exemption form – IM011 form).
Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.
Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified and must not exceed the duration or conditions associated with the current visa.
Selection criteria to be addressed:
1. Diploma of Library/Information Services or other combination of qualifications and experience to meet the minimum standard of skill and knowledge as outlined in the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) standard for library technicians.
2. Demonstrated strong working knowledge and understanding of library management systems (including acquisitions, cataloguing, serials and circulation) and in the provision of direct library services including information desk shifts.
3. Well developed communication skills, both oral and written.
4. Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team member and also to work independently and be able to set priorities and meet deadlines.
5. Demonstrated experience in the provision of document supply services.
