Waminda is located in Nowra, on the beautiful south coast of New South Wales and has been servicing the local Aboriginal Community for 40 years. We have a unique model of care that empowers our Aboriginal women and their families to take lead in their health journey with culture as the core foundation. We are the only Aboriginal Community Control Health Organisation (ACCHO) in Australia with a shared leadership structure led by Aboriginal Women from our local Community.
As a Waminda General Practitioner you will provide culturally safe, comprehensive holistic care tailored to the individual needs of clients, with easy access to internal Allied Health services to support the overall well-being of our Women and their families. We are seeking applicants with experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, dedicated to supporting and empowering Aboriginal women and their families to make informed health decisions.
You will work in collaboration with our Primary Health Care team of Aboriginal Health Practitioners, Registered Nurses and Midwives to provide client centred care, aligning with Waminda’s model of care, centring Aboriginal Women and their families. With multiple outreach sites, you will have the opportunity to work in various locations on the South Coast from the Illawarra, down to Ulladulla.
We are equally committed to the well-being of our staff through the implementation of our Staff Wellbeing Framework, which aims to provide ongoing support in health and well-being for our staff with allocated well-being time, scheduled external supervision and ongoing professional development opportunities.
We are excited to expand our team to meet our growing community and to support our Primary Health Care programs, including the upcoming Gudjaga Gunyahlamia Birthing and Community Centre, which will implement our full birthing on country model of care, with an anticipated completion of build in mid 2026.
