Knowmore Legal Service is a nationwide service, supporting victim-survivors of childhood abuse and the Stolen Generations in accessing legal redress and justice. We offer free, confidential services to help victim-survivors navigate their compensation and redress options, including through assistance in applying to the National Redress Scheme, Victims of Crime Compensation Schemes, and the Territories Stolen Generation Redress Scheme.
Our team provides free legal assistance, financial counselling, social support and specialised cultural support for First Nations people. With a trauma-informed and culturally safe approach, we empower victim-survivors to make informed choices on their path to healing and justice.

What You’ll Do
1. Provide crisis and short-term counselling and support to clients, face to face or on the phone.
2. Collaborate with lawyers, our First Nations Engagement Advisors and multidisciplinary teams to minimise the legal process’s impact on clients
3. Assist clients with referrals to essential services
4. Conduct outreach, including visits to remote and regional communities
5. Represent Knowmore in community education and advocacy initiatives
6. Provide informal debriefing and support to co-workers to enhance awareness of wellbeing in a trauma informed organisational framework
What We’re Looking For
1. A Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, or Counselling
2. 5 years + relevant experience
3. Experience providing trauma-informed counselling
4. Cultural competency – experience working respectfully and in a culturally safe way with First Nations communities
5. Strong teamwork & stakeholder engagement skills
6. Commitment to self-care and reflective practice
