THE OPPORTUNITY
We are looking for an Ordinary Seaman to join our experienced crew onboard the Ronja Huon. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and enthusiastic candidate to play a pivotal role on our well boat. The Ordinary Seaman works on a 4 weeks on and 4 weeks off roster.
Reporting to the Chief Officer and Well-Boat Manager, you will be required to perform general deck duties including operations involved with loading and unloading fish, regular ongoing maintenance which includes cleaning and painting, general seamanship including line handling supporting berthing and unberthing, occasional watchkeeping and conducting regular safety drills.
ABOUT YOU
You will possess a strong work ethic, an eye for detail, well-developed communications skills and will be physically fit and available for an immediate start. The successful applicant will have:
1. Current AMSA Medical
2. Current Norwegian Medical
3. Certificate of Safety Training CoST
4. Current Drivers licence
5. Current Passport
6. Capable of working autonomously
7. Proven ability to work effectively within a team
Experience working in a Marine farm environment or formal Marine or Aquaculture qualifications are desirable but not essential. As the Ronja Huon is a Norwegian flagged vessel, all qualifications must meet NIS requirements.
It is an inherent requirement of this position that work be performed safely whilst upholding Huon’s Values. The appointed person must be able to build and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders. Knowledge of work health and safety regulations is preferred.
