The Role
This is a full-time (1.0 FTE) contract role until 30th June 2025. Reporting to the Manager of Whyalla Homelessness Service, you will provide specialised case management and crisis support for individuals experiencing both homelessness and domestic violence. Working with Centacare’s Domestic Violence Services, you will help victim-survivors and their children achieve safety, recovery, and sustainable housing.
This is a dual role requiring you to navigate both domestic violence and homelessness services, ensuring your clients receive holistic, trauma-informed care.
Key Duties:
* Conduct risk assessments and develop safety plans to ensure client safety in every interaction.
* Provide Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) education and supportive counselling, helping clients build resilience and acknowledge their strengths.
* Advocate for clients with internal and external providers, including referrals to mental health, family therapy, and other specialized services.
* Coordinate housing support by working with housing providers to secure long-term accommodation.
* Maintain accurate client records and participate in quality improvement programs to meet contractual and legislative standards.
About You
You are a compassionate and experienced professional with a background in domestic violence, homelessness, or related fields. Your approach is trauma-informed, client-centred, and culturally responsive, and you are ready to provide crucial support for young people facing difficult circumstances.
Essential Criteria:
* Degree in Social Work or relevant experience.
* Experience in domestic and Aboriginal family violence, mental health, homelessness, or trauma-informed services (Desirable).
Special Conditions:
* Intrastate travel.
* Participation in an on-call roster for after-hours crisis support.
* Flexibility for occasional out-of-hours work.
Prior to receiving a formal offer of employment with Centacare, the following documents must be provided for this role:
* Driver’s licence.
* Valid Working with Children Check (WWCC).
* Evidence of right to work in Australia.
* 100 points of identification.
