About the Role: Gamuda Australia is looking to hire a Lead Estimator who will initially focus on preparing bids for our upcoming tenders in either the transport infrastructure sector, transmission or renewable energy sectors.The Lead Estimator, reporting to the Estimating Manager is responsible for leading the estimating team, under the guidance of the Estimating manager, to successfully win work by providing accurate, value-for-money cost estimates across multiple large scale infrastructure bids.In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for the estimation process for complex projects, ensuring accuracy and competitiveness in our bids.Duties and Responsibilities: Leading the estimating team with the overall delivery of project tender submissions, ensuring the accurate estimation construction strategies are implemented, maximising the likelihood of winning and successfully delivering projects.Ensure estimates are executed in accordance with the client's specifications and design brief and ensure all quality, safety and environmental requirements are incorporated into each tender submission.Participate in risk and opportunity assessments as required and ensure tender deadlines are met in line with client requirements and provide regular progress briefs to Senior Management relating to relevant EOI and RFP deliverables throughout the duration of the submission.Manage the transition of the pre-contract's estimation for the project to the project delivery team / Project Director and assist the project team in planning and developing procurement strategies including ensuring the timely procurement of all work packages and compliance with company procurement policies and procedures.Key Technical Skills and Attributes: Software Proficiency: Familiarity with multiple estimation software packages specifically Candy to create and manage estimates efficiently.Quantitative Skills: Proficiency in mathematics and the ability to analyse numerical data for accurate cost estimations.Knowledge of Construction Methods: Understanding various construction techniques and materials relevant to civil projects, including roads, bridges, and drainage systems.Design Drawings and Specification Interpretation: Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and project specifications to identify materials and labour requirements.Project Management Understanding: Knowledge of project management principles to effectively coordinate estimates with project schedules and budgets.Regulatory Knowledge: Awareness of local building codes, environmental regulations, and safety standards that affect project costs.Market Awareness: Understanding of current market rates for labour, materials, and equipment to ensure accurate and competitive pricing.Attention to Detail: Precision in calculations and thoroughness in reviewing estimates to minimise errors.Analytical Thinking: Ability to assess risks, identify cost-saving opportunities, and provide value engineering solutions.Functional Relationships: Internal: Senior Leadership Team, Project Management, Bid Management, Estimating, Engineering Management, Commercial Management, Legal Management, Procurement.External: Government Authorities, Project Partners, Sub-contractors, External consultants.Gamuda is a global engineering, property and infrastructure company with an excellent track record of delivering world-class major projects.Our strength lies in our ability to identify, innovate, and deliver breakthrough solutions which improve the standard of living for the communities in which we operate.Our vision is to become a leader in the Australian infrastructure and construction sector by offering innovative, breakthrough and dependable solutions for large-scale public infrastructure projects and private investment opportunities.If you have good leadership qualities and people management skills, able to work independently, self-motivated and a team player then we would like to hear from you.Apply Now!
