The Position We are looking for experienced Registered Nurses with specialty skills in Scrub/Scouting to join our Perioperative team on a fulltime basis (we will also consider suitable applicants seeking part time opportunities).
Our busy theatre complex supports a variety of services including ophthalmology, neurology, general surgery, ENT, urology, orthopaedics, gynaecology, vascular, endoscopy and plastics.
Working in this specialized area you will be responsible for maintaining the highest level of clinical standards and will be directly responsible for: Continuously monitor the theatre environment and manage associated risks to ensure patient safety including safe clinical practice and adherence to Aseptic Technique, Infection Control principles and practices Other activities including patient positioning, documenting accountable forms, collect specimens, confirming consent and managing equipment.
Manage the instruments and associated sterile items, accountable items, assist the surgeons with access to instruments and supplies required to undertake the surgical procedure Collaborate with surgical team to ensure that all instruments, accountable items and other items used during surgery/procedures are retrieved, accounted for and appropriately documented Remaining vigilant throughout the procedure in order to recognise intraoperative complications or changes in the patient's condition and be ready to respond promptly Our theatres are staffed Monday to Friday with employees being rostered on-call on a rotational basis (nights and weekends).
