Normanton State School are seeking applications for a Deputy Principal to join their leadership team on a temporary full-time basis from 14 July 2025 until 26 July 2026, unless otherwise determined. As the Deputy Principal you will:
* Improve the educational outcomes of students;
* Develop the quality of teaching and learning;
* Nurture positive relationships between students, teachers, the community, and stakeholders.
The Deputy Principal will report to the school principal and will be an integral part of the leadership team.
About Normanton State School
Normanton State School is a remote, rural school that offers learning experiences for students from Prep to Year 10. We are a co-educational school and we cater for students with a range of learning needs and interests.
We focus on improving student literacy and numeracy outcomes. Our teachers base their curriculum on the Australian Curriculum using the Curriculum to Classroom (C2C) resources in all key learning areas. Students have specialist lessons in The Arts (Dance, Drama and Visual Arts), Technology (Digital and Design), ICT Skills and Health and Physical Education from Prep to Year 10. Our Secondary students do a range of subjects including Manual Arts and Home Economics in Years 7 and 8, and Hospitality and Industrial Technology and Design in Years 9 and 10. Year 9 and 10 students also participate in work experience twice yearly.
About The Role
You will have responsibility for leading the following activities and delivery of the following key tasks:
* Assist the Principal to lead the school community to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
* Deputise for the Principal when required.
* Uphold the deputy principalship as a values-based, ethical and moral activity.
* Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
* Support staff with curriculum development, timetabling, moderation, classroom organisation, and behaviour management, including the implementation of Version 9 of the Australian Curriculum.
* Support staff and students with student wellbeing and engagement.
* Work with students, staff, and the school community to organise, promote and run events, camps, excursions, and activities - co-ordinating the school calendar, visitors to our school and special events that may take place.
* Ensuring Risk Assessments, Workplace Health and Safety, and Medical and Health policies are understood, implemented, and adhered to.
* Developing and implementing rosters, relief and support timetables, class and staff timetables, and related documents.
* Overseeing the moderation process, mentoring, and development of all staff, including beginning teachers and early career teachers.
* Supporting staff to differentiate and use support strategies to support all students, including IEAL/D.
* As a leadership team member you will assist with the development and implementation of the strategic direction of the school.
