Ability to effectively and positively work with diverse clients on a range of sexual health, sexuality, gender, lifestyle risks and social exclusion issues. Competence in the application of clinical problem solving and effective coordination of patient care at an advanced level. Ability to work independently with advanced decision-making skills. Ability to provide leadership, precept staff and contribute to professional nursing and willingness to be a team player and supportive and inclusive of other team members regardless of grade. Ability to effectively plan and coordinate education activities for individuals and groups. Sound knowledge and understanding of clinical protocols including Health Management Protocols and Clinical Guidelines for Sexual and Reproductive Health Nurses. Contemporary knowledge of Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI) and Blood Borne Virus (BBV) diagnosis and management. Knowledge and understanding of the National HIV, HCV Strategies and Indigenous Australians' Sexual Health Strategies. Knowledge and understanding of the Queensland Health Sexual Health Strategies. Requirements Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent is a required qualification for this position. Proof of qualification, registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and possession of a current practising certificate. After Hours: It is necessary for the position to be flexible with rostered working hours in accordance with Townsville Hospital and Health Service (HHS) industrial agreements and awards, to meet client or service delivery needs. After hours service may be required. Travel: Whilst this position is based in Townsville, some travel may be required including possible short-term assignments to e.g. Palm Island. Drivers License: This position requires the incumbent to operate a class 'C' motor vehicle and an appropriate licence endorsement to operate this type of vehicle is required. Proof of this endorsement must be provided before commencement of duty. Highly Desirable: Working towards, or the completion of, a Queensland Health approved 'Sexual and Reproductive Health Program' course. Other relevant Sexual Health Tertiary Qualifications. Ability to complete Townsville Hospital and Health Service application for recognition as an Advanced Practise Nurse within a 'Sexual and Reproductive Health Program'. This will facilitate the supply of medications under a Drug Therapy Protocol (DTP).
