Visiting Medical Officer in General Practice
The Hunter New England Local Health District is seeking applications from General Practitioners to provide Visiting Medical Officer services to the Multi-Purpose Service sites of Manilla, Quirindi and Barraba.
About the Role
* Quirindi: A community hospital with a 24-hour emergency department and capacity for up to 20 inpatients. Located in the picturesque Liverpool Plains, less than an hour's drive to Tamworth and not too far from Newcastle.
* Manilla: The largest Multi-Purpose Health Service (MPS) in New South Wales, providing a 24-hour emergency department and a range of acute and aged care beds.
* Barraba: A multi-purpose health service with 16 residential aged care beds and 6 acute beds, with an emergency department available 24 hours per day.
Mandatory Requirements
* Admitting, consultative, diagnostic, procedural, outpatient, telehealth and on-call services as determined by HNELHD.
* Attendance and availability during rostered work hours and whilst on-call including clinical handover, clinical supervision, teaching and for emergency and routine care as determined by HNELHD.
* Provision of education and research as determined by HNELHD.
Qualifications
* A primary medical degree registrable with AHPRA and Fellowship of the RACGP or ACRRM, and/or overseas trained specialist pathways.
* Evidence of being a medical expert, demonstrated by recent and comprehensive experience in General Practice.
* Evidence of being a scholar, maintaining medical professional development and assisting other staff, including trainees in the acquisition and development of knowledge.
* Evidence of being a skilled communicator, including both oral and written skills, communicating with patients, students, other health professionals and the public.
* Evidence of being a collaborator, including the ability to network and operate within an interdisciplinary framework.
* Evidence of being a manager, including flexibility to cope with a changing health system and past leadership and management experience.
* Evidence of being a professional, including continued professional development, peer review and other forms of clinical governance.
* Evidence of being an advocate, including contributions to improving individual and societal health.
