We are currently seeking a dynamic and proactive Assistant Buyer to join our Buying team.
Role Overview
As an Assistant Buyer, you will play a crucial role in assisting the Buyer with product management and achieving category sales goals. Your responsibilities will include collaborating with internal departments such as planning, logistics, retail, marketing, digital, and quality assurance, as well as managing relationships with external producers and suppliers. Strong communication skills and meticulous attention to detail are essential for ensuring effective information flow and successful product lifecycle management.
Key Responsibilities
* Product Management: Review and approve product information, manage product samples, and oversee quality control processes.
* Operational Excellence: Ensure accurate and timely updates of website content, manage category style guides, and handle SKU life cycle management.
* Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams (Products & Planning, marketing, digital, retail operations, supply chain and QA) and external stakeholders (producers and suppliers) to meet product criteria and critical paths.
* Hands-on: Let's be real – we sell furniture! This is a roll-up your sleeves role which involves moving product (furniture) around for visual merchandising, photoshoots, etc.
* Customer Focus: Maintain accurate website information, oversee Point of Sale (POS) communications, and ensure excellent customer experience.
* Safety & Wellbeing: Promote a safe working environment and support team wellbeing.
* Leadership: Engage in personal and team growth, initiate collaborative discussions, and drive positive change.
About You
* Experience: 1-2 years in a buying office or similar retail role.
* Qualifications: HSC Certificate or equivalent; Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Business, Retail, or Design is desirable.
* Skills: Intermediate to advanced Excel, expertise in Microsoft PowerPoint and Office, understanding of basic retail mathematics, strong analytical skills.
* Traits: Attention to detail, eagerness to learn, good communication and written skills, team player, results-focused, customer-oriented, and effective time management. Can-do attitude and willing to roll your sleeves up and get involved with moving product (furniture) around and contribute to the team to achieve goals and targets!
