The Barwon Southwest (BSW) Prison Precinct incorporates four custodial facilities located 6km north-west of Lara, 20km from the centre of Geelong and about 70km from Melbourne. The four custodial facilities consist of two maximum security prisons being HM Prison Barwon and Western Plains Correctional Centre and medium security prison Marngoneet Correctional Centre and Karreenga Annex. The BSW Prison Services Team provides both operational and administrative services to HMP Barwon, Marngoneet Correctional Centre and the Karreenga Annex. About the Role: A Records Officer provides strong administrative support in handling sensitive Prison and Prisoner documentation, administrative and business support services. In the context of a prison, a Record Officer provides a range of corporate support services, within the unique operational environment of the correctional facility. In context the role requires a strong focus on customer service, teamwork, integrity, accuracy, compliance, and timelines. The Property Officer is responsible for maintaining the prisoner property stores stock levels, safekeeping of prisoner's stored property, prisoner property requests, the prisoner's greens store and valuables register. This position is an integral role in the transfer of prisoner's personal items between prison locations. Some of your other duties will include: The daily operations of the Prisoners information into the PIMS and EJustice Systems. Coordinating the preparation of documentation relating to a prisoner's transfer, classification, release and court appearances. Communicating with courts, police, legal entities, government departments, visitors, clients and various stakeholders. About You: As our ideal candidate, you will possess: Well-developed computer skills. Ability to undertake inquiries, prepare reports, correspondence and statistical returns.
