Child Safety, Seniors and DisabilitiesChild and Family; Region – Southwest; Service Delivery – Child and Family; IpswichThe purpose of this position is to assist with the development, implementation and coordination of program initiatives for human services, with a focus on delegated authority to community controlled organisations for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people.A level of experience in writing executive correspondence, briefing notes and information papers is a key responsibility of this role.This is a temporary full time role until 30 June 2027.Mandatory Requirements:It is a genuine occupational requirement that this position be filled by an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person. One of the referees should be an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person who can attest to the applicant's background, knowledge, skills and experience as they relate to the cultural capabilities.The possession of a “C” class driver's licence and ability to undertake intrastate travel for short periods.Extensive experience in tertiary child protection practice and possession of a degree and/or post graduate studies in related content is highly desirable.About the team:The Quality Practice Team is a multi-disciplinary team in the South West Region, responsible for leading practice that is aligned with the Framework for Practice. There are a number of specialist teams who provide practice support to the Region, including the Delegated Authority Team, who work alongside Child Safety Service Centres and Aboriginal and Torres Strait organisations to provide culturally responsive services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, young people and families.The Delegated Authority team also engages with the Office of the Chief Practitioner as the lead in the strategic, operational and funding requirements to achieve delegated authority to community controlled organisations for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people. Partnership with QATSICPP and other community controlled organisations is critical to the team's success.Key Responsibilities are:Develop and/or manage projects and programs that support the effective delivery of services relevant to the business unit, to primarily achieve delegated authority to community controlled organisations.Consult with government agencies and community organisations to support the development of effective policy and program options to deliver and maintain quality services.Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders towards the development and implementation of whole-of-government policy and program initiatives relating to the programs and initiatives delivered by the business unit.Undertake research and provide advice to government and regional staff.Prepare a range of written materials including cabinet submissions, executive correspondence, briefing material, speech notes and information papers concerned with the programs and initiatives delivered by the business unit.Collaborate with other departmental staff in the management of communication and information activities to ensure broad awareness of issues affecting Queenslanders with disability.Develop and maintain systems for the effective monitoring and review of policy and programs which are the responsibility of the business unit.Applications to remain current for 12 months.Further informationWe are committed to building inclusive cultures in the Queensland public sector that respect and promote human rights and diversity.Please ensure you download all attachments and follow the instructions on how to apply.
