About your new role:
Due to continued growth within our business, we are seeking an experienced workshop based Fitter / Machinist to join our high performing team in Port Hedland, Western Australia.
Within this role, your responsibilities will include:
* Performing allocated work to the required standards within agreed timeframes;
* Reading and interpreting job specifications, technical drawings and schematics;
* Operating heavy machinery, hand tools and lifting equipment;
* Making sketches or manufacturing parts to drawings;
* Maintaining equipment, tools and work area to a high standard;
* Maintaining documentation and service records as per procedure;
* Directing and mentoring apprentices where required;
* General mechanical fitting work as required;
* Performing work safely and complying with WHS procedures;
* Repairs and reconditioning of hydraulic cylinders used in a variety of applications;
* Disassembly, inspection, measuring and reporting on components;
* Assembly and testing of cylinders.
What you need to succeed:
* Relevant Trade Qualifications: Machinist or First-Class Machinist;
* Experience working within a workshop environment and knowledge of machining procedures;
* Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and engineering drawings;
* Experience operating manual lathe and milling machines;
* Work to fine tolerances with speed, accuracy and attention to detail;
* Proficient with internal and external screw cutting, boring and grooving;
* Experience in machining a broad range of materials;
* Forklift ticket and MIG welding experience (desirable);
* Effective communication, time management and organisational skills;
* Valid driver’s licence, own transport and a demonstrated safety-first mindset.
