Your role
Reporting directly to the Head of Sales - AU, the National Sales Manager is accountable for managing the Automotive Sales team across Australia. The National Sales Manager will provide leadership and strategic direction to Sales Managers (SMs) to aid in driving sales, Member and supplier relationship activities. Key to the success of this role is achieving budgeted sales and expense targets while also driving Automotive and Group organisational objectives.
Skills, Knowledge and Attributes
• Demonstrated evidence of leading and growing a business with P&L responsibility;
• Good understanding of business and corporate legislation particularly as it relates to the Trade Practices/competition and consumer law (desirable);
• Intermediate skill in the use of MS Office Software Suite;
• Ability to understand and adapt to changing business requirements;
• Ability to influence internal and external stakeholders and leverage relationships to reach a commercially positive outcome for the business;
• Ability to maintain a highly engaged workforce and drive creative engagement activities to unify a geographically dispersed team;
• Sound analytical and problem-solving abilities;
• Business awareness, commercial acumen and strong negotiation skills;
• Able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and can converse at all levels within and outside the organisation.
Experience
• Previous experience in a senior management position within the automotive industry with sound understanding of the automotive parts industry or related/equivalent industries is desirable;
• Experience in leading people through a changing business;
• Experience in leading leaders;
• Proven ability to manage competing priorities and to leverage the strengths of a team to deliver results on a consistent basis;
• Demonstrated achievement of large sales budgets with multiple portfolios;
• Experience driving and motivating a large sales force with competing priorities;
• Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and remotely;
• Successful experience working in a similar role for a Cooperative or other member-based organisation (desirable); and
• Contact Centre operations experience.
Qualifications
• Tertiary Qualification in Business Management or in a related discipline (highly desirable);
• Current valid driver’s licence issued by the relevant State regulatory authority (essential).
