A bit about the role Join the City of Casey's Rates and Valuations team as a Senior Customer Data & Debt Officer, where you'll take the lead in managing customer data and overseeing debt recovery processes. You'll play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring smooth operations within the team. This full-time, 40-hour-per-week role offers the added benefit of a monthly RDO and is a 6-month limited tenure position with the possibility of review at the end. What you’ll deliver Assist with the coordination of the debt management functions across all relevant processes and systems. Manage and assess financial hardship applications. Manage the Name and Address Register (NAR) within Council, with the ability to update, review and resolve. Provide client support and resolve or escalate issues through multiple service channels focusing on client interactions. Provide reporting insights into debt management levels to support revenue collection performance. Provide a high level of skilled advice and assistance to Council’s customers regarding debt management guidelines, related functions and processes What you’ll bring A degree or diploma in business, property, accounting, or related field with relevant experience, or lesser qualifications with extensive experience. Local Government customer service, property, valuations, rates and revenue (including special rates & fire levy) administration experience. Sound knowledge of the Local Government Act 1989, Local Government Act 2020 and Valuation of Land Act 1960, and any other associated legislation relative to the function of the rates and valuation team. Sound understanding in the use of computerised systems including TechOne and Crystal Reports, to support the debt recovery and other rates functions. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively liaise, negotiate, and build relationships with ratepayers, staff, contractors, managers and government agencies. Ability to handle difficult customer interactions with professionalism and empathy. Willingness to undergo pre-employment background checks including National Criminal History Check, Working with Children Check and Eligibility to Work check.
