About the Role
As one of the fastest growing regions in Australia (and a delivery partner in the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games), we’re excited about the opportunities this will bring for our growing community.
But we’re also a busy team managing a range of high-impact works as the Sunshine Coast transforms from a regional centre to a regional city.
You’ll see projects from inception to delivery and be able to see your impact on shaping a more sustainable future in a complex urban environment.
Overseeing the program of works for the delivery of resurfacing, replacement and rehabilitation of council owned roads and related infrastructure assets. The position provides strong leadership in terms of Project and Contract Management and has a strong health and safety focus. With a commitment to service quality excellence, safety and best value outcomes on all projects and initiatives, the team works closely with partners and other internal asset custodians to deliver best outcomes for community, environment and the supporting workforce. Aspects include:
* Coordinate and manage the continued development of the Contracts Delivery Team, ensuring the delivery of the annual Capital Road Reseal Program
* Review procurement and contract management models and develop opportunities
* Establish and maintain rapport with relevant stakeholders including clients, authorities, contractors, other professional consultants and the community, specifically:
o with clients to ensure they are kept informed of the progress of projects, potential delays and critical issues
o appropriate professional relationships and networks within the industry
* Engage proactively in the development and review of council’s Annual Budget and the Branch Business Plan
* Ensure Council’s professional standards are maintained and objectives in relation to budget targets, service quality, company reputation, WH&S and environmental standards are met and take responsibility for compliance with external and internal standards
* Foster learning exchange, accountability, and best practice project management frameworks
* Undertake reviews including developing benchmarking and unit rate comparisons, and implement reforms and contracting of services
About you
As an expert in contract management and procurement within the public sector setting you will possess strong project management skills in the coordination and delivery of corporate projects and programs.
Applying your natural relationship abilities in the consultation, integration and negotiation of successful outcomes often within a political environment.
A demonstrated track record in developing and implementing strategies for infrastructure based service delivery improvement in a medium to large scale environment is a must.
Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Project and Contract Management or related disciplines will be required, complemented with substantial relevant experience. Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland, (RPEQ)
