A bit about the role You will lead a team of three community focused individuals in this newly redesigned role at Wyndham City Council while focusing on developing and implementing plans, programs and projects which enhance the planning and management of the City's open spaces and achieve consistent, high-quality design and functional open space outcomes. You will employ your well-developed skills in stakeholder engagement to work internally and externally to implement the Wyndham Open Space Strategy as well as providing specialist advice in relation to the distribution, design and functionality of open spaces and networks. What you'll deliver The development of strategies, policies, and plans to guide the planning, development and management of the City's open spaces The development of framework plans, concept plans and master plans to guide the design and development of the City's open spaces Engagement and collaboration with partner organisations to develop partnerships that further the joint implementation of master plans Guidance to the Open Space Team in assessing Planning Applications Preparation of effective reports, submissions, briefing papers and project update reports for senior management, executive and Council What you'll bring Tertiary qualification in Landscape Architecture, Open Space Planning, Urban Design or related field (essential) Proven ability to provide leadership and supervision of staff (essential) Ability to scope projects, set objectives and develop a work plan for programs and projects (essential) Highly developed verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate and work collaboratively with a diverse group of stakeholders (essential) Highly developed organisational and time management skills with the ability to work under conflicting pressures and achieve agreed outcomes (essential) Demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement at both a government and community level (desirable) Demonstrated experience in managing capital and operational budgets, including development of successful business cases (desirable) A continuous improvement mindset with a positive, proactive, and flexible attitude Be part of something more Take a look at our job opportunities and you may be surprised at what you discover: a future-focused culture, a sense of purpose and possibility, and real opportunities to strengthen our diverse community.
