Job Description
We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Base Camp Counselor to provide a safe and engaging environment for youth.
Key Responsibilities
* Supervise and monitor youth participants during activities, ensuring safety and adherence to center policies.
* Assist in planning, organizing, and leading recreational and educational activities, including sports, arts and crafts, games, and workshops.
* Foster positive relationships with youth, encouraging participation and inclusivity while promoting teamwork and respect.
* Maintain a clean and organized environment, including equipment setup and cleanup after activities.
* Address behavioral issues or conflicts among participants in a fair and constructive manner.
* Communicate with youth, parents, and staff, providing updates on activities and addressing concerns.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Must be at least 16 years old.
* Ability to work full-time, including weekends and holidays.
* Physically capable of sitting, standing, and lifting children daily.
* High levels of patience, empathy, and creativity.
* Background check clearance through the Department of Health and Welfare or willingness to obtain.
* Commitment to completing the annual IdahoSTARS training (12 hours).
* Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.
* Strong communication skills and ability to multi-task.

* Strong understanding of child development principles and positive redirection and behavior management.
* Team-oriented, communicative, and responsive to the needs of children, families, and team.
* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, maintaining engagement and enthusiasm throughout daily routines and activities.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
The job requires frequent bending, climbing, kneeling, squatting, twisting/turning from waist and pushing/pulling objects. Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time is necessary. Weekend and holiday work will be required.
