$63,000 – $81,000 per year + superannuation A great opportunity exists for an Assistant Accountant to join a dynamic team in a values-based NFP.
Supporting the Finance Manager and accounting operations of the Catholic Diocese of Rockhampton, the role will assist in meeting management and financial reporting obligations.
The Assistant Accountant is responsible for: Preparation and analysis of management accounts and financial reports Preparation of budgets and forecasts Monthly bank/general ledger reconciliations and accounts payable/receivable functions Preparation and lodgement of current statutory and legislative obligations, including those imposed by the Australian Taxation Office, the Australian Charities & Not-for-Profits Commission, and the Australian Bureau of Statistics Review, analysis, and annual reporting of business divisions within the Diocese Collation and provision of financial information to entities and auditors Conducting parish reviews Participation in work area meetings and development activities to assist other areas of finance Undertaking project work as requested The successful candidate will have the following: Working towards obtaining a Bachelor of Accounting or recently graduated (essential) High level of attention to detail and the ability to quickly and accurately process financial information General technology skills, including knowledge in MS Office suite and accounting software Proven ability to solve problems and exercise analytical thinking Ability to work within and uphold the values and mission of the Catholic Church, such as willingness to serve others, treating others with dignity and respect, and being sensitive to the diverse backgrounds of others Ability to prioritise workloads and manage multiple tasks with competing timelines Good written and verbal communication skills Strong interpersonal skills Capacity to acquire new skills Ability to work as part of a team The salary is negotiable based on qualifications, skills and relevant experience.
As a guide, a salary range of $73,000 to $81,000 for recent graduates and $63,000 to $70,000 for those working towards their accounting degree.
