A bit about the role Join the City of Casey's Rates and Valuations Team as a Senior Rates and Revenue Officer, where you will play a key role in managing the Rates and Revenue process. Your expertise will be vital in overseeing the supplementary process and ensuring the accurate creation and issuance of rates and charges. You'll be at the forefront, providing high-level, skilled advice and assistance to our customers, guiding them through Council rates, revenue guidelines, and related processes. As part of this dynamic role, you’ll be working a 40-hour week and enjoy the added benefit of a monthly Rostered Day Off (RDO). This is a 6-month limited tenure position with the possibility to review at the end. What you’ll deliver Complete the return of supplementary valuations, including calculation of supplementary rates, creation of new rates and subsequent issuing of supplementary rate notices. Prepare, return, and issue all supplementary rate and valuation notices. Complete import of annual re-valuation data into TechOne Property and Rating database. Assist with the with the preparation of annual rate modelling data to be used in development of budget material. Assist with the valuation and rate data to assist with preparation of the Annual Budget. Generate rates, fines, interest, and rates notices in accordance with legislation and Council’s Rating Policy. Assist with the coordination of the rates administration team to ensure high quality services are provided to clients in accordance with Local Government legislation and Council procedures, policies and codes of best practice. What you’ll bring A degree or diploma in business, property, accounting, or related field with relevant experience, or lesser qualifications with extensive experience. Local Government customer service, property, valuations, rates and revenue (including special rates & fire levy) administration experience. Sound knowledge of the Local Government Act 1989, Local Government Act 2020 and Valuation of Land Act 1960, and any other associated legislation relative to the function of the rates and valuation team. Sound understanding in the use of computerised systems to support the rates revenue functions. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively liaise, negotiate, and build relationships with ratepayers, staff, contractors, managers and government agencies at all levels. Prepare and review financial reports and analyses related to rates and revenue. Provide insights and recommendations to support organisational decision-making. Willingness to undergo pre-employment background checks including National Criminal History Check, Working with Children Check and Eligibility to Work check.
