The Concrete Trainee is a member of the Construction team and is expected to complete their qualification while developing skills through experience in a variety of general concrete types of work including footpaths, cycleways, formwork, steel fixing, traffic calming devices, kerb and channel by hand and machine, driveways, drainage pits, pedestrian ramps, median islands and pedestrian refuges.
In this role, we will support you to:
* Undertake a broad range of tasks associated with concrete works and maintenance.
* Operate small items of plant.
* Work under supervision to carry out screeding and concrete finishes on a variety of associated concrete projects.
* Undertake the administrative functions associated with the role including but not limited to tasks such as completing timesheets, daily diaries, checklists and inductions.
The position is located at Council's Works Depot, Boolaroo, and involves travel to multiple areas within Lake Macquarie. You will be rostered to work between 6:30am and 3:45pm.
Receive a wage whilst studying towards a qualification starting from $698.63 per week (if 17 years of age) or from $816.52 per week (18+ years of age), plus 12 per cent superannuation.

* Yearly pay reviews and increases based on performance.
* 38 hour working week with nine-day fortnight.
* Four weeks paid annual leave.

ABOUT YOU
We are looking for people who:
* Year 10 Record of School Achievement, or TAFE equivalent, with satisfactory English and Mathematics results.
* Current Provisional Drivers Licence and NSW Construction Card.
* Are dedicated and willing to undertake a Certificate III in Concreting and are excited for this opportunity.
* Are customer focused with a passion and genuine interest in concrete works.
* Welcome any challenge with a flexible approach and a positive work ethic.
* Excel in a team environment.
* Stand out from the crowd with previous concrete experience.
* Are quick learners eager to acquire knowledge and new skills.
* Enjoy working in an outdoor environment with the ability to undertake physical requirements of the role.
Candidates who have completed a Certificate III in Concreting or higher may not be eligible to apply.
