The Role
An Executive Level 1 ADATS System Manager / Data Specialist works with considerable independence and is accountable to maintain and control complex air traffic control technical systems as well as source, develop, and incorporate aeronautical information into a database management system.
They will have extensive aviation experience and comprehensive technical knowledge of air traffic control data production and testing systems to ensure optimal performance, stability, and redundancy of: one (1) full data processing and display management and test system; one (1) full voice switch adaptation production workstation; and two (2) deployed air traffic control simulation suites (RAAF Bases Williamtown and Amberley).
They will work within a framework of legislation, established principles, work practices and procedures in accordance with Defence's mission and business objectives.
This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP). This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Agreement (DEA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability. About our Team
The Adaptation Data Information Technology System is a highly complex and critical component of the Australian Defence Air Traffic Control System (ADATS). The Executive Level 1 ADATS System Manager / Data Specialist works within a small team of air traffic control specialists as part of Headquarters Surveillance and Response Group based at RAAF Williamtown.
The team is pivotal in providing operationally critical air traffic control data services to thirteen (13) Defence air traffic control establishments around Australia; fills an essential role in providing specialist advice and supporting data to significant Defence projects; and assists Defence in meeting its aviation safety obligations.
Our Ideal Candidate
* Current or recent technical experience in maintaining computer-based air traffic control systems such as ADATS or EUROCAT.
* Highly developed technical, analytical, and problem solving skills with demonstrated commitment to quality systems processes including configuration management, data management, and security.
* Ability to analyse highly complex ICT acquisition, development and maintenance issues, applying expertise to identify potential risk events and implement effective mitigation strategies.
* Ability to interpret and process highly complex geographical and non-geographical aeronautical documents and information using relevant operational aviation experience.
* Comprehensive knowledge of air traffic management system data files, relational databases and experience manipulating them.
* Understand the Defence environment and apply that knowledge to build and sustain relationships and liaise with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
* Ability to work both individually and as part of a team.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills.
