Council is excited to offer a newly created 12-month contract opportunity for a Coordinator Ranger and Animal Services based in Bathurst, NSW.In this challenging yet rewarding role, you will lead and inspire two teams: the Rangers and the Bathurst Animal Rehoming Centre (BARC) staff, totaling 15 members.Your leadership will be key to ensuring the highest standards of animal care, while also driving compliance services that contribute to a safer and more connected community.This is a 35-hour work week role, Monday to Friday, 8:15 am to 4:30 pm, with a requirement to attend to after-hours duties as needed, based on business requirementsMore specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:Leading and mentoring a multidisciplinary team to deliver exceptional care and maximise rehoming opportunities for animalsDeveloping and implementing policies and procedures to ensure safe, efficient operations at BARCOverseeing Ranger services, including compliance enforcement and the preparation of legal proceedingsFostering continuous improvement and high performance in your teams, while maintaining a supportive and ethical work environmentBuilding strong relationships with external stakeholders to create opportunities for rehoming, volunteering, and community engagementManaging budgets effectively, ensuring optimal use of resources while meeting organisational goalsReporting on key performance indicators, budgets, and other operational goalsAbout YouTo succeed in this role, you will have a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant discipline (or equivalent), such as animal management, husbandry, regulatory compliance, or business administration, along with extensive experience in a similar role.You are a natural leader with proven experience managing teams and driving successful outcomes.Your communication skills are second to none, and you thrive in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.Additionally, you will bring:Exceptional customer service skills, with the ability to manage sensitive and challenging situationsStrong negotiation and conflict resolution skills, with sound decision-making abilitiesExperience managing budgets to ensure efficient operations within allocated resourcesProficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and other web-based systemsExperience with statutory interpretation and policy developmentTechnical expertise in regulatory
