Medical Laboratory Scientist - Quality, Queensland Health Join our hard-working team based in Herston. This is an exciting permanent full-time opportunity. The Core Chemistry unit performs routine chemical pathology investigations, drugs of abuse testing and therapeutic drug monitoring, arterial blood gases, immunoassay investigations, selected serology, protein assays and supports Point of Care. The successful incumbent will have a primary role supporting the Core Chemistry unit to deliver an efficient, high-quality service through the performance of a diverse range of quality activities. You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following: Experience in the performance of Chemistry and/or Immunoassay investigations. Theoretical knowledge and understanding of chemistry and immunoassay principles and procedures. Proven ability to solve problems and show initiative in the workplace. Well-developed organisational and communication skills and ability to work in a team environment. Demonstrated ability to review and analyse quality controls, including EQAP. Demonstrated involvement in process improvement and client liaison activities. Experience with, or ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of programs such as Excel, Unity, AUSLAB (experience with Analyse-It is desirable but not mandatory). Understanding of laboratory quality systems and the requirements of NATA accreditation and ISO certification. Awareness of the human resource management policies applicable to contemporary workplaces. Qualifications, registrations and other requirements: Minimum qualification for Health Practitioner Level 3 (HP3 Clinical). The successful applicant must hold a relevant degree in science or equivalent from a recognised University or other tertiary institution. Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and/or registration with the appropriate registration authority, including any necessary endorsements, to be provided to the employing service prior to the commencement of service. Overseas applicants are reminded that assessment of equivalence of qualifications is required. The Central Core Laboratory delivers a 24-hour, 7-day service. All newly appointed Core Laboratory staff are engaged with the understanding that they may be required to work any rostered shift within the 24-hour 7-day roster period, including overtime as required. This facilitates the progressive review of staffing and shift arrangements in the Core Laboratory to accommodate changes in workload and service requirements.
