About the role:
Abel Tasman Village seeks a Part Time Maintenance Officer to undertake general maintenance duties, ensuring they are completed on time and to a high standard.
You will anticipate, arrange and carry out repairs, maintaining buildings and advising on replacement or repairs as required. This is a great opportunity for someone who likes to work methodically, setting priorities, working quickly and multi-tasking.
You will provide practical support to the Maintenance Supervisor as well as basic ground maintenance. Your focus will be on achieving a high standard of quality whilst working safely and efficiently.
All tools will be supplied.
Duties will include (but not limited to): Check and respond to maintenance forms Building inspection and maintenance reviews/schedulesPreparing units for new residentsSweeping and cleaning of pathwaysTending the gardens and mowing grassCollection of rubbishAssist with deliveriesAssist with moving furnitureAdhere to manual handling procedures and lift policyAdhere to WHS, Risk Management, Injury Management and Return to Work Procedures.Adhere to occupational health & safety and infection control policies and procedures.Attend staff meetings as directedParticipate in Annual Performance Review Key responsibilities: • Ensures that maintenance duties are completed in a safe, efficient and effective way by following specified policies and procedures with special attention to all aspects of safety;
• Contribute to the support of residents by providing quality service as required, and with respect to dignity and privacy;
• Contribute to after-hours maintenance requirements from time to time; and
• Participating in workplace consultation activities and actively participating in any other safety activities as prescribed.
Skills, knowledge and experience needed: • Recent experience in general maintenance within aged care would be an advantage
• Trade qualification desirable but not essential.
• A current NSW driver's license.
Sound knowledge of building and maintenance practices and standards, including corrective and preventative maintenance programs Good communication skills, with an understanding and empathy for aged care residents Strong commitment to work, health and safety Intermediate computer literacyCultural and religious tolerance Desirable: Relevant trade qualificationExperience liaising with trades-persons and contractorsAged Care experience
