The Role
This senior commercial role reports to the GM Commercial and is responsible for leading a medium sized team of professionals who undertake significant contract management and negotiate large and complex upstream contracts for the business. Assisting the GM to deliver the commercial strategy and processes to a high standard, the successful leader will likely be in an equivalent commercial role or a senior lawyer looking to use their legal and interpersonal skills in a management role.
This role offers high-quality work on a very broad mix of significant projects, and complex contracts, including:
1. Leading a team of direct reports responsible for contract management
2. Having primary responsibility for developing and implementing the commercial strategy for the business
3. Overseeing commercial activities for all projects and ensuring compliance with contracts and standards
4. Overseeing contract management of non-project and corporate contracts
5. Ensure robust commercial contracting standards are in place to maximise profit, reduce risk and achieve project outcomes
6. Manage issues and disputes related to contracts
7. Assist with contract negotiations
8. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements

About you
To be considered for this role you will be in a similar commercial role with significant contracts management experience or a commercially focused and astute senior lawyer, with front end commercial experience gained in a quality in-house team or leading law firm. You will have worked on and led significant negotiations and understand the commercial and risk requirements of a complex multi-disciplinary company. In addition to your honed commercial skills, you will enjoy dealing with senior executives and supervising others and want to use your highly evolved people and leadership skills to hone a high-functioning commercial team.
