Workshop Manager - Heavy Vehicle Mechanic ABOUT THIS ROLE As a JJ's Workshop Manager / HV Mechanic, you will play an integral role within our workshop team across our depot locations in Canberra.
You will report to the Regional Manager and will be conducting all facets of preventative maintenance and repair of heavy rigid vehicles including brakes, steering, suspension, hydraulics, and fabrication.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Maintain a culture of safety first Lead a diverse team; including mechanics, apprentices and sub-contractors Motivate and continually develop your team, including hands-on practical involvement in the day-to-day workshop operations Ensure the fleet is maintained to and in compliance with JJ's Waste Fleet Management Standards with an emphasis on safety Comply with the Company's processes, policies and procedures Maintain contact with regional and national fleet management and interaction with suppliers and contractors Manage the service delivery and meet the individual contracts requirements Work closely with the Managers/Leadership to improve performance and continually increase fleet productivity Develop effective working relationships with drivers ABOUT YOU Have trade qualifications as a Truck Mechanic - Heavy Commercial Vehicles Demonstrate an exceptional eye for detail Have a HR Licence (ideally) Have a good mechanical aptitude Demonstrate a professional and outcome focus Work well individually and as part of a team Want to be part of a culture of learning and continuous improvement Be dedicated and reliable; we are an essential services industry Demonstrate the ability to build rapport and relationships with all stakeholders Be dedicated to achieving high standards of safety compliance and customer service Complete pre-employment medical and drug and alcohol testing BENEFITS The stability of a national, Australian family-owned and operated business with over 90 years' experience Work/life balance; Monday to Friday role Essential services industry – job stability Full-time, permanent role Awesome and stable workshop team - mix of qualified mechanics and apprentices $150k-$200k (guide) + Super Company vehicle & phone 10am start time - Monday to Friday Supply, laundry and maintenance of Uniforms and PPE Onsite parking Local depot / workshop - NEW fleet in 2025 Career development and growth opportunities Introductory and ongoing training Salary sacrificing and novated leasing (including tools-of-the-trade) Banking partnerships – including financial, budgeting and mortgage advice Discounts at over 100 retailers (including groceries and fuel) Car servicing, parts and accessories discounts – plus new car discounts NEXT STEPS Interested applicants should APPLY NOW Depending on the role, the recruitment process may vary slightly; this may include a phone interview, face-to-face interview, skills-based assessment, pre-employment medical and of course, an opportunity to meet the team.
