As we continue to grow, we are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accountant to manage the financial operations across our multiple motel locations.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic team in a fast-paced environment.What You'll Be Doing:Managing Accounts Payable and Receivable: Ensure all supplier payments are made accurately and on time, while also tracking customer payments, ensuring timely receipts, and maintaining proper documentation for each transaction.Processing Weekly Payroll: Using Xero, you will be responsible for processing weekly payroll for all employees at motel locations, ensuring compliance with Australian payroll regulations and addressing any payroll-related inquiries from staff.Maintaining General Ledger Accounts and Reconciliation: You will manage the accuracy of the general ledger by entering transactions, performing regular reconciliations of bank and credit card statements, vendor accounts, and ensuring financial data is accurate in Xero.Monitoring Revenue and Expenses: Track and report on the financial performance of motels, ensuring income and expenditure are properly recorded in Xero.
This includes identifying discrepancies, ensuring expenses stay within budget, and reporting financial issues to management.Preparing BAS Statements and Financial Reports: Prepare Business Activity Statements (BAS) and other monthly financial reports using Xero.
This includes financial statements and ensuring compliance with Australian financial regulations.Ensuring Financial Compliance: Ensure that all financial practices comply with Australian tax laws and industry regulations.
Assist with audits and maintain financial records within Xero that are transparent and compliant with best practices.Handling Supplier Payments, Invoicing, and Month-End Reporting: Process supplier payments on time, prepare accurate invoices for services provided, and provide month-end reports on financial performance using Xero to assist management with decision-making.Providing Financial Support and Insights: Work closely with the management team, offering financial advice, assisting with budgeting and forecasting, and recommending cost-saving measures and improvements to enhance profitability across the motels.What We're Looking For:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field: A formal qualification in accounting or finance is essential to ensure a strong foundation in financial principles and compliance standards.Minimum 2 years of accounting experience, preferably in hospitality or multi-site businesses: Previous experience in an accounting role where you've handled multiple locations or businesses will be highly regarded.
Experience in the hospitality industry is a bonus, as it comes with unique accounting challenges that you will need to be familiar with.Proficiency in Xero: Expertise in using Xero accounting software is essential for this role.
You should be comfortable managing financial records, processing payroll, and generating reports using Xero.In-depth knowledge of accounting processes and compliance regulations: You should have a strong understanding of Australian accounting standards, GST, BAS, and payroll requirements.Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail: As an Accountant, you will be responsible for identifying discrepancies, managing complex financial data, and ensuring accuracy at all times.
Your ability to think critically and solve financial challenges will be essential.Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks: You will need to manage the financial operations across multiple motels, which requires excellent organizational and time-management skills.
You should be able to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines without supervision.Strong communication and interpersonal skills: This role will require you to interact with both internal team members and external vendors.
Clear communication, whether it's answering queries or reporting financial findings, is vital for smooth operations.High level of confidentiality: As an accountant, you'll be handling sensitive financial information.
