About Us
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) is an emergency service agency responsible for ensuring the safety of people and property across Queensland through prevention, preparation, response, and recovery activities in various emergency situations.
Purpose of the Role
The QFES provides unique fire, rescue, emergency, and disaster management services through a single agency. This collaborative approach delivers improved safety outcomes for the community by working together with stakeholders.
Key Requirements
* Mandatory Requirements:
o Employer's written consent to attend incidents and emergencies (where applicable)
o Live or work within a reasonable distance of auxiliary fire station
o Australian Permanent Resident Status
o Manual C Class driver's licence
* Commitments throughout employment:
o Attending incident and emergency calls - 50% as a day worker or 30% as a shift worker
o Attending 75% of regular drill and training sessions
o Obtaining an MRV licence within 12 months
o Participating in ongoing skills acquisition and maintenance programs
o Complying with QFES policies and procedures
Your Key Accountabilities
1. Respond to fire and other emergency incidents as part of a team.
2. Promote community safety and emergency preparedness through education activities.
3. Develop and maintain competencies by participating in drills and training courses provided by the QFES.
4. Maintain attendance standards for emergency incidents and training.
5. Operate specialist firefighting and rescue equipment safely and effectively.
6. Contribute to upkeep and hygiene of station facilities.
7. Maintain operational equipment and station facilities.
8. Contribute to incident reporting and general station administration.
9. Promote a positive team approach, comply with legislative requirements, communicate effectively, and contribute to a safe work environment.
