Job Title: Funeral Arranger Location: Whyalla, SAAs a Funeral Arranger you are responsible for overseeing and planning a wide range of duties relating to funerals and funeral services.
This is a diverse role which requires you to perform all funeral requirements including body preparation for those who have passed whilst advising and guiding families with a professional and caring demeanour during an emotional time.As directed you may be responsible for removing bodies from the person's home, communicating with the families to arrange the funeral, or preserving and preparing the bodies before burial or cremation, you are required to help grieving families give their loved ones a final goodbye that ensures that the deceased's good life deserves the best farewell.
You will oversee, direct, and coordinate all aspects of the funeral service including body preparation, visitation, services, burials, and cremations, setting up the venue, greeting guests and providing caring support and advice to families and friends of the deceased.
Key Responsibilities: Funeral Services Plan and coordinate funeral arrangements in accordance with families' wishes.
Assist with funeral logistics, including driving funeral vehicles.
Liaise with external stakeholders such as hospitals, aged care facilities, and law enforcement.
Provide emotional and logistical support to families during services.
Ensure venues are set up appropriately with flowers, seating, and service materials.
Maintain funeral vehicles and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
Participate in on-call duties, including after-hours arrangements and transfers.
Compliance and Administration Complete and process all necessary legal documentation accurately and on time.
Work with administrative staff to ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
Maintain records and documentation related to funeral arrangements.
Health and Safety Adhere to workplace health and safety policies.
Ensure the mortuary and associated areas comply with health and hygiene standards.
Report any safety concerns or incidents promptly.
Team Collaboration Work closely with the funeral team to ensure smooth service delivery.
Offer flexibility and support in various tasks as required.
Foster a respectful and collaborative team environment.
Qualifications and Experience: High school certificate or equivalent.
Previous experience in a funeral-related role is desirable.
Strong knowledge of cultural and religious funeral customs.
Valid driver's license with access to a personal vehicle.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Skills and Attributes: Sensitivity and empathy when working with grieving families.
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
Ability to manage stressful situations with professionalism.
Flexibility to work after-hours, weekends, and public holidays as needed.
Physical capability to perform manual tasks, including lifting and standing for extended periods.
Work Environment: Requires physical stamina for heavy lifting and extended standing.
Exposure to varying weather conditions.
