About the Opportunity:
A respected mine operator is looking to engage an experienced Technical Services Manager to enhance their underground zinc site in QLD. This exciting role offers a chance to lead and innovate in a fast-paced environment, managing a multidisciplinary team and overseeing the technical services that drive successful mining operations.
This is a permanent position working an 8/6 roster. You’ll lead and develop a high-performing team consisting of Mining Engineers, Geotechnical Engineers, Geologists, and Surveyors. Additionally, you will provide direction and mentorship to support operational and commercial success.
Key Responsibilities:
* Planning & Scheduling: Oversee medium to long-term mine planning and scheduling, including Life of Mine planning. Ensure all mining activities are aligned with business objectives and operational efficiency.
* Performance Monitoring & Improvement: Regularly review and analyse mining performance. Identify improvement opportunities and implement operational enhancement projects to improve productivity, safety, and cost-effectiveness.
* Budgeting & Cost Control: Provide guidance on cost management, monitor budget variances, and collaborate in the creation of accurate and comprehensive mine budgets.
* Regulatory Compliance & Reporting: Ensure strict compliance with safety, environmental, and operational regulations. Prepare and review detailed operational reports, including weekly and month-end reports.
* Strategic Planning & Development: Coordinate short and long-term mine designs and activities. Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure the achievement of operational goals and objectives.
* Continuous Improvement & Innovation: Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement, driving safety, efficiency, and cost-saving initiatives throughout the operation.
What We’re Looking For:
* Proven experience in technical services and leadership within the mining sector, with a strong focus on mining engineering, geology, and geotechnical operations.
* Have all relevant certificates and qualifications; Certificate of Competence (COC), Bachelor in Mine Engineering, Safety certificates etc
* Demonstrated experience in mine planning, scheduling, and optimisation.
* Strong budget management skills with the ability to control costs and allocate resources efficiently.
* Exceptional leadership skills and the ability to mentor and develop a diverse team.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage with various stakeholders.
* A commitment to safety, environmental responsibility, and regulatory compliance.
