We are currently seeking a Utilities Engineering Manager to provide technical expertise and leadership to our expanding team. Each position will have a specific focus and responsibilities to assist our teams located across the region, reporting to the Manager Water Utilities. As the Utilities Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for developing growth, renewals, and compliance strategies along with operational improvement projects. You will also be an integral part of the water utilities leadership team, providing day-to-day technical assistance, direction, and leadership to the planning and compliance team. In this busy role, you will support the organisation by: Leading, motivating, mentoring, developing, and supporting the team to service delivery excellence. Developing resourcing strategies to ensure successful delivery of services. Ensuring employee performance meets expectations and managing these expectations successfully. Defining and developing appropriate growth, renewals (master planning), and compliance and business efficiency strategies. Ensuring that regulatory plans are in place and meet the necessary approval conditions. Overseeing the management of projects, ensuring delivery within appropriate timeframes, budgets, and legal frameworks. Establishing a reputation for reliability and trust across stakeholders, including government, councillors, management, peers, co-workers, and the public. Ensuring Council's procurement policies and procedures are followed, including the development of scopes for RFQs or RFTs. Managing expenditure and budgets in consultation with the team. Ensuring the team provides value for money outcomes when making procurement decisions. Managing budget preparations, planning, and monitoring. To be considered for this opportunity, you will need to possess: A minimum of Queensland C Class driver's licence. A relevant tertiary qualification in engineering, planning, or science, or significant demonstrated experience in strategic planning and compliance. Demonstrated leadership ability in a strategic planning and compliance role of more than 5 years, preferably within Local Government. An understanding of legislative and regulatory requirements pertinent to Local Government and management of water and sewerage services. Extensive knowledge of water and sewage treatment plant processes, network design and management, risk, and asset management. Proven highly developed managerial and supervisory skills, including contemporary techniques such as team building, quality assurance, total quality management, and time management. Highly developed communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills, including demonstrated interpersonal and written abilities. Knowledge of project and contract management methodologies. Participation in the on-call duty roster. Demonstrated abilities and skills to promote leadership and cultural excellence in safety across all areas of water utilities.
