About our team
Chief Operating Officer Group | Integrity Security & Assurance | Audit & Assurance | Various
The Audit and Assurance Branch (AAB) provides independent audit and assurance services, supporting the Department in identifying opportunities for improvement working to develop and measure appropriate action, and is the central liaison point with external scrutiny bodies.
As part of this AAB is responsible for managing a range of internal and external scrutiny functions including, but not limited to:
* Overseeing the Internal Assurance Framework
* Managing relationships with external scrutiny bodies
* Providing advice and administrative support to the Department's Audit and Risk Committee (ARC)
* Managing internal audit services including monitoring corrective action relating to audit recommendations,
* Administrative compliance activity including administration of the Policy and Procedure Control Framework (and Register)
* Oversight of the Department's fraud and corruption control practices
* Developing the Annual Compliance Performance Statement
* Administration of the Departments and ABFs Fraud and Corruption Control Plans and associated fraud related functions.

* Experience in leading and managing diverse teams in a challenging, complex and fast paced environment.
* Proven internal and external engagement experience with a demonstrated ability to contribute to business and continuous improvement strategies and work with governance, risk, compliance and audit specialist and technical staff.
* Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate collaboration including preparation of verbal and written advice and reporting, with demonstrated ability to exercise discretion and confidentiality.
* Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to lead staff and manage relationships including providing high quality, timely, advice to stakeholders and senior executives.
Duties and responsibilities
* Ensure in-depth knowledge of and compliance with legislative, financial and administrative frameworks, government decision-making processes and agency guidelines and regulations.
* Provide strategic advice to Executive and Senior Executive Staff, contributing to and supporting the strategic direction in area of specialisation.
* Collaborate across the Department, Government and with external stakeholders including building strong stakeholder relationships with external bodies and key business areas.
* Maintain expert knowledge in relevant areas and provide advice and technical expertise to guide and oversee activities including managing complex cases and projects of a detailed and specialised nature.
* Preparation of high quality correspondence, briefing material and recommendations.

Eligibility
To be eligible for the position you must be an Australian Citizen.
The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance, and:
* ABF Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC).
* Home Affairs Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Onboarding Check.
In certain circumstances, an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC) may be required in addition to, or in lieu of, an Onboarding Check, which will be determined by the delegate as necessary.
