About The RoleGrampians Health Ballarat is seeking a dedicated and organised Ward Assistant to support the Special Care Nursery and assist Women's and Children's departments as required. This role is ideal for someone passionate about maintaining high standards and ensuring a safe and efficient ward environment.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with patient admissions and discharges by preparing and maintaining patient areas. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of equipment, storerooms, and clinical areas. Transport specimens, equipment, medication, and blood products as per hospital protocols. Provide general housekeeping duties to ensure a safe and tidy ward. Work collaboratively with the healthcare team to enhance patient care.
Additional Responsibilities
Support clinical staff by preparing patient areas and equipment. Ensure patient and family areas remain clean, organised, and well-stocked. Prioritise workload and adapt to changing ward requirements. Communicate effectively with staff, patients, and visitors. Promote a safe and healthy workplace by reporting hazards and following safety procedures. Participate in quality improvement activities and accreditation processes.
Skills & Experience
Strong ability to work independently and as part of a team. Effective time management and task prioritisation skills. High-level communication and interpersonal skills.
