We currently have two vacancies in the Asset Management Directorate: The Senior Communications Engineer resides within the Passenger Information and ICT section. This role is part of a collaborative team providing specialist engineering supports to the Manager Passenger Information and ICT, for the management of Passenger Information, CCTV and South Australian Government Radio Network operation-critical systems, applications and communications architecture across PTSA, including developing long term asset management strategies to improve customer experience through review, modification and improvement to the current systems and critical infrastructure. In addition to the above, the Senior Communications Engineer provides technical advice and services to support the delivery of a range of complex systems, services and projects by working collaboratively with key stakeholders and service providers on new techniques, technologies, standards/policies, ensuring compliance to relevant standards, legislation, policies, and procedures; on works delivered internally or by external contractors. The Senior Engineer - System Engineering is responsible for the provision of specialist engineering services to PTSA. The incumbent will be required to work collaboratively with services providers and key stakeholders through the provision of technical advice and assurance of operational assets and capital programs and will be responsible for reviewing projects and ensuring compliance to relevant standards, legislation, policies and procedures. The role is part of a multidiscipline team of engineering resources providing systems engineering support to the Manager, Train and Tram Assets in the management of the South Australian Government’s train and tram assets, including long term planning to achieve consistency of asset condition and standards across all systems. Qualifications/Experience Both roles require extensive knowledge and working experience of the Rail Safety National Law (SA) Act 2012 (RSNL), Work Health and Safety Act 2012 and risk and safety management principles. The positions have been identified as a Rail Safety Worker and has been classified as a Category 2 Non-Safety Critical Worker and will be subject to periodic health assessments as per Rail Safety National Law. The successful applicants will be appointed at the classification level commensurate with their skills and experience. Please refer to the attached role statements for further information: Senior Communications Engineer Demonstrated experience in various IT systems, networking technologies, topologies, and security protocols within operation-critical systems, applications, and ICT system integration, with significant rail experience is desirable. For appointment at the PO4 classification level, a bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering (Electronic, Telecommunications, Information and Communication Technology) providing eligibility for membership as a Professional Engineer of the Institution of Engineers, Australia is required. For appointment at the ASO7 classification level, tertiary qualifications in Engineering or similar will be highly regarded. Extensive experience in a similar role is required. Senior Engineer - System Engineering Proven experience in a systems engineering role with infrastructure, maintenance, application of industry standards including the Disability Standards for Accessible Public Transport and management of customer facing assets, with significant rail experience is desirable. experience is desirable. For appointment at the PO4 classification level, a degree in Engineering providing eligibility for membership as a Professional Engineer of the Institution of Engineers, Australia is required. For appointment at the ASO7 classification level, tertiary qualifications in Engineering or similar will be highly regarded. Extensive experience in a similar role is required. Special Conditions Prior to employment with the Department the successful candidate will be required to provide: A National Police Check (NPC) which must be renewed every three years. A Department for Human Services (DHS) Working with Children Check (WWCC) which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry. A current driver’s licence is essential.
