Emergency Department - Multiple Positions Indicative Total Remuneration: $95,302 - $154,699 – Multiple positions: Temp F/T (up to 31 Jan 2021) – MDP2 Joining the team as an Emergency Medical Practitioner / ACEM Trainee (Registrar/RMO), you will contribute to the delivery of high quality Emergency Medicine services to patients attending the Emergency Department. You will be responsible for managing the care of patients in collaboration with the responsible Registrars, Consultants, Nursing and Allied Health professionals. The Hospital is an acute care teaching hospital with 336-beds, providing services in the areas of General Medicine, Emergency Medicine, General Surgery, Anaesthesia and Intensive Care, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics and Psychiatry. They provide a full range of high-quality medical, surgical, diagnostic, emergency and support services to a population of more than 350,000 people living primarily in Adelaide’s northern suburbs, and are affiliated with the University of Adelaide, University of South Australia and Flinders University. The Emergency Department (ED) is open 24-hours a day, providing health care to more than 74,000 people each year. Approximately 25% of the presentations to the ED are paediatrics. The Emergency Department is accredited for 24 months of mixed urban district advanced training for ACEM fellowship. The ACEM Training program offers rotations to the Intensive Care Unit, Anaesthetics and Paediatrics Emergency during your training. The ED also offers a special skills post in Emergency Medicine Ultrasound. ACEM Emergency Medicine Certificate Training is also available for non-Emergency Medicine Trainees. The secondary Hospital provides care to more than 35,000 attenders of all ages each year managing both life threatening and non-life threatening emergencies. The Emergency department (ED) is accredited for 12 months of advanced training for the ACEM Fellowship and is the base for the largest EMET programme in South Australia. Approximately 20% of the presentations to the ED are paediatrics. Essential Criteria: Holding a Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent, you will need to be registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner. If you have completed an emergency rotation in the UK and completed your foundation years you will be eligible to interview for this position. Demonstrating sound knowledge and understanding of investigations and treatments appropriate to the level of the position, you will be skilled in problem solving and decision making at both the clinical and the individual level. A team player with the demonstrated ability to think on your feet and work within a fast-paced environment, you will be committed to working effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare setting. The incumbent would also be involved in Continuous Quality Improvement activities and in continuing education activities. This position reports to the designated Consultants of the Emergency Department allocated at start of term.
