About Mt Arthur Coal
Mount Arthur Coal is an open-cut coal mine 100 per cent owned by BHP. Located in the Hunter Valley, New South Wales it's the largest producer of energy coal in the region, operating alongside olive growers, wine makers, horse breeders and the nearby residential community of Muswellbrook.

About the Role
We are currently seeking a Coal Quality Engineer/Geologist to join our team, which has an exceptional culture where success is celebrated, and work/life balance is valued.
Reporting to the Superintendent Resource, your role will be to support the site’s production, planning, CHPP and logistical needs through the timely delivery of the weekly coal schedule and feed plan. Additionally, you will provide coal recovery plans, operational guidance and pit support as the vital link between the short-term schedule, production and logistics.
The role on offer is Monday- Friday residential position
In this role you will:
With an overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable development
* Engage with Production, CHPP, Planning, Marketing and Logistics teams to deliver against the short-term planning targets;
* Generate the weekly coal schedule, optimising the feed plans and blend to efficiently meet logistics needs;
* Provide geological field support to the site operational teams with coal recovery plans and pit inspections with a focus on quality;
* Work proactively with production teams to sequence coal to the CHPP to meet quality requirements and manage coal quality, loss and dilution, and ROM management;
* Complete End of Month reporting activities
As part of the site geology team, the role can be tailored to your experience and qualifications. There is the opportunity to gain exposure to Mine Geology and role rotations to further your professional development.
About You

* A Tertiary Qualification in Geology, Mining Engineering, or associated discipline;
* A valid Australia Driver’s Licence;
* Scheduling experience and strong Microsoft Excel skills;
* Experience in open cut coal mining;
* The ability to perform pit inspections and influence operational stakeholders whilst delivering to a plan;
* Experience with and understanding of coal quality;
* Detailed knowledge of industry best practice in horizon and grade control processes in a truck and shovel mining environment
You will be diligent, self-motivated and an excellent team player with positive relationship building skills and a high level of attention to detail.
