We’re a family-run business, deeply rooted in values that span generations. As we expand, we’re looking for a General Manager – Row Cropping to join us on this exciting journey and play a pivotal role in the future of Rombola Family Farms in Griffith, NSW.
Key Operational Accountabilities Include
1. Contributes proactively and constructively to production team discussions about varietal selection based on consumer, production, and supply chain.
2. Proactively manage all new varietal trials and full supply chain analysis for presentation to the Managing Director.
3. Contributes constructively and proactively to production team discussions about the design of production schedules with market timing, volume, quality attributes, and internal capacity constraints in mind.
4. Contributes proactively and constructively to production team discussions to determine the detail of production systems to be implemented by crop.
5. Monitor the agreed production schedule to ensure all tasks are completed in line with agreed timing for all plantings.
6. Monitor all plantings throughout the production cycle to ensure all tasks are routinely performed to agreed standards and produce the required outcome.
7. Liaise with the production team to alter irrigation, nutrition, weed, pest & disease control, and sun screening in a planting as required.
8. Monitor crop health and produce maturity in order to forecast volume & quality by week.
9. Actively and effectively communicate with outsourced agronomists and consultants.
10. Liaises with the maintenance function to ensure row cropping production teams have the highest possible equipment availability.
To be successful in the role you will possess the following:
1. Minimum 5 years’ experience in a management capacity within the horticulture industry.
2. Extensive production experience with row crops.
3. Skilled at crop health, production planning, pest and disease management.
4. Tertiary qualifications in agriculture will be highly regarded.
5. Excellent communicator.
6. Good with numbers: analysing costs, P&L and want to have input into capital expenditure and farm expansion plans.
7. People manager, negotiator, and all-around good person that will thrive working in a proactive team (must be a team player).
8. Flexibility in hours worked to achieve operational targets, including weekends and public holidays.
9. Sound working knowledge of WH&S requirements.
10. Attention to detail with a genuine sense of urgency and a “can do” attitude.
